Standee Design – Tarapa Initiative GOSHTRANG

Tribal students, moreover, the dialect they speak at home is quite different from the standard language used in the schools. In fact many children are first generation readers and writers! As a result, availability of a literate environment that facilitates language acquisition is not available to them. Thus, creating a culture of reading, writing and providing an enriching literacy experience to these tribal students becomes very important. Performing stories by trained theater facilitators and reading aloud the written stories is an innovative concept which can help provide such enriching experience and make reading-writing more meaningful and enjoyable. Cropmarx Design designed four standees for 3 plays from book stories. Utilizing pictures from books was effective thought to attract children towards reading.
